But on both Normal and Hell, the aura buffs will be the same. The Desert Mercenaries will have different auras depending on which difficulty you are currently playing. The Desert Mercenaries are considered the best hireling for any class builds you're running due to their Paladin auras like Defiance, Blessed Aim, and Prayer. They can also shoot Fire Arrows or Cold Arrows. They can't equip crossbows or Amazon-specific bows. You'll notice this buff is active when an enemy is highlighted with a white light on top of their head. They can also cast Inner Sight-an Amazon debuff skill that lowers the defense of all enemies within range. Fire arrows travel twice the distance of Ice Arrows.You can pick and choose which type of Rogue Scouts you'd like to hire from the mercenary window. Rogue Scouts can imbue their arrows with either fire or cold damage. They are arguably the weakest hirelings out of the four-they primarily stand in the back and function as artillery support, shooting arrows and debuffing enemies. You'll obtain a Rogue Scout for no cost from Kashya as a reward for that quest as well. To unlock them, you must complete the Sisters' Burial Grounds quest given by Kashya in Rogue Encampment. Press O (PC) on your keyboard to open the Mercenary sheet, then drag and drop the pieces of equipment you'd like them to use. Your mercs can also use armor and weapons that you've gathered. However, in the Lord of Destruction expansion, Mercenaries are significantly more helpful and are available throughout the game-this is also the case for Diablo II: Resurrected.
For example, Rogue Scouts would only be available while you're exploring areas and completing quests in Act I and would not follow you to Lut Gholein in Act II. In the vanilla version of Diablo II, you can only hire mercs as a temporary companion throughout one Act.
